Google’s new OS- the Honeycomb has been designated a tablet-specific operating system by the company but it is expected that the company would use certain elements of the new OS into future smartphone-friendly versions of Android. Phandroid reported that Google has started working on building a new branch of code, dubbed GRI17 which will “bring some of the new elements” found in Honeycomb to smartphones.

Good news for existing Verizon customers as they can now preorder Apple’s CDMA iPhone4 from tomorrow. The delivery of the device will begin on February 10. The AT&T and Verizon models of the iPhone 4 are now placed side by side in Apple’s online store. The message is that the customers can select their iPhone and carrier. The handsets are available at similar price. The 16GB model is priced at $199 with a two-year contract, while the highest capacity 32GB model is worth $299.

According to reports, the flaw in Intel’s Sandy Bridge chipset could delay the shipping of Apple’s Macbook Pro at least until April. As we reported yesterday that Sandy Bridge contained a flaw in the Serial-ATA (SATA) controller and the flaw can affect the performance of the hard drive performance. In some cases, it can even make the drive invisible to the system. On its part, Intel has stopped shipments of the flawed chipsets and is now fixing the flaw. Intel said that it will start shipping the fixed version late next month and the company t “expects full volume recovery in April.”
