A whole new bunch of Android running devices are going to be launched in the coming weeks. Motorola Droid X/ Motorola Droid 2 would be launched this week followed by Samsung Galaxy S next week. Motorola Droid 2 is the sequel to Motorola Droid and Droid X is being hailed as the ultimate android device, better than even EVO 4G. Apple’s iPhone goes on sale on June 24th and has already faced some stiff competition from android running devices.

It seems that some more carriers will launch the Android super-phones very soon. In March, while launching the “Galaxy S” line, Samsung had announced that it wanted to bring its 1-Ghz Android platform to all the U.S. carriers. The recent report from Digitimes claiming CDMA version of iPhone 4 compatible with Verizon is under production and will beging shipping to Apple by 2010 quarter 4, has sent the Verizon iPhone release speculation machinery into an overdrive. If the report turns out to be true then we should expect Verizon iPhone 4 release by year end. But the Verizon iPhone release expectations have been somewhat marred by the reports saying that Verizon Wireless is scrapping the unlimited data plans similar to AT&T and opting for tiered pricing in future. As Verizon moves to faster fourth-generation network technology, it plans to follow AT&T Inc. in eliminating unlimited data plans and introducing tiered pricing this year. “We will probably need to change the design of our pricing where it will not be totally unlimited, flat rate,” John Killian, chief financial officer of Verizon Communications Inc., said in an interview with Bloomberg’s BusinessWeek.

Is Verizon iPhone 4G finally appearing on the horizon? If recent Digitimes report is to be believed, Verizon compatible version of iPhone 4 is already under production and will be out in fourth quarter of the year. So if that is true Verizon iPhone release could be slated before the year ends. And now Verizon Wireless has officially completed the technical trials of its new 4G LTE network, and the carrier is planning to conduct “friendly user trials” in five cities. David Clevenger, executive director of public affairs at Verizon Wireless made the announcement in a conference call with hardware and software partners who will be designing devices for the 4G network. So if iPhone on Verizon is going to be a reality, then it might turn out to be Verizon iPhone 4G release.
