There have been numerous reports claiming that Droid X has been seen running Android 2.2 Froyo in the wild, in past 2 days. There is a video posted on a tech blog as well. But now it seems the Android 2.2 Froyo update has finally leaked before its official entry. So all you Droid X owners on the look out for it, if you are not willing to wait for the official release of Froyo update, you can get the leaked update from My Droid World.
Meanwhile, Verizon has postponed its Motorola Droid X shipping dates to the 6th of September, as it has run out of supply of the smartphones. The smartphone seems to be in much demand, luring buyers with its intriguing features, like a Multitouch keyboard, a wide 4.3-inch touchscreen, three mics, Android 2.1 with MotoBlur, 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash,720p HD recording, WiFi and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Tthe postponement of the shipping date has come as much disappointment, to the willing buyers as now they will have to wait much longer to lay hands on the Android Motorola Droid X smartphones. The popularity of the Motorola Droid X smartphones could be gauged easily, considering that earlier in the year, Verizon had pushed its shipping date to the 23rd of July, as it had run short of its online supplies.
Verizon has been known to witness supply shortages, in earlier times, with many of its newly launched Android smartphones, but it is for the first time that Motorola Droid X has run out of stock of its smartphones.
It is not clear as in what circumstances, the Droid X is experiencing a shortage situation. But according to speculations, it is probably the high demand of the smartphones in market that has caused the shortage, unlike HTC Incredible’s case where Samsung had not been capable of supplying display panels to HTC, and thus had led to a shortage of the Android Incredible smartphones. HTC has lately declared its intention of buying the display panels from Sony.
But it is clear that anyone waiting to get a Droid X for themselves, will have to wait until September.
