According to multiple reports, the much hyped Motorola Droid 2 will release on Verizon network on August 12. Earlier it was reported that the Droid 2, regarded by many as the true successor of original Motorola Droid, will go on sale across the US on June 23. However some leaked documents of Verizon provided evidence that Droid 2 will now release earlier than expected.
The specification of Droid 2 is not officially announced but it is believed that it will run on 1GHz microprocessor. It will have 512MB RAM and high resolution camera. The display size of the Droid 2 is smaller than that of Motorola Droid X, which boasts f a 4.3 inch touchscreen.
The Droid2 however, comes with slide out physical keyboard, which is not present in Droid X. The device will also have HD video recording feature and OMAP 750Mhz processor. It is expected that the smartphone will ship with Google’s latest OS- the Android 2.2 Froyo. Verizon will be the exclusive carrier of the Droid 2 in the US.
A few days ago, leaked Best Buy document had confirmed that August 12 will be the release date for the device. Droid 2 is set to become the first phone to have Android 2.2 as default operating system. In the last few days, speculations were rife about the release date of Droid 2. Besides, earlier reports also revealed that dummy units of the Droid X have made its way to certain Best Buy stores. So close August 12 as the release date for Droid 2 on your calendar.
