Apple Unveils iTunes 10, New iPod Touch, No Hint Of Verizon iPhone Yet: Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs today unveiled the company’s new iPod touch at the company’s event in San Francisco in addition to iTunes 10 while there were no hints about iPhone on Verizon and white iPhone 4. The new iPod Touch has the same Retina Display, front facing camera, rear HD camera, and A4 processor as the iPhone 4, which was unveiled on June 7 and went on sale from June 24.
Jobs added that the new iPod touch, and the rest of the new iPod lineup, will go on sale from next week. Apple released three models of the new iPod touch today and all three products have the new features, starting at $229 for the 8GB model, $299 for the 32GB version, and $399 for 64GB.
Highlighting the feature of the new iPod touch, Jobs said that the new device can run the same iMovie application that was previously only available for the iPhone 4. The new iPod comes equipped with rear-facing HD camera, which will allow the users to shoot video and edit it right on the device.
The new iPod touch also has a forward-facing camera. The presence of a front-facing camera is an important feature as it allows users to do FaceTime with other iPod touch users and iPhone 4 users as well.
Notably the new iPod will with iOS 4.1, which includes Game Center, the company’s social networking application for game players. Apple boss stressed that the new lineup of iPods unveiled today is the strongest that had been released by Apple so far. The Cupertino-based firm also unveiled a new version of the iPod Shuffle priced at $49.
Apart from iPod Touch, the iTunes 10 announcement has been very well received all around.
