San Francisco witnessed the unveiling of Ping at Apple’s Annual Music Event with great pomp and show. Like every time, Apple CEO Steve Jobs spoke voluminous about Ping and its essence in the market. Reportedly, Ping happens to be the one of the latest offering in the world of social networking.
Ping makes its appearance as the latest addition in iTunes which serves as the storehouse of music for more than 160 million listeners all across the globe. Ping would appear as a tab in iTunes and shall serve as the gateway to musical social networking.
Ping is reminiscent of Microsoft Zune Special which was a similar service model that was designed way back in the year of 2007. However, Ping has a greater potential than Microsoft Zune Special and if all goes well, it shall throw in a tough tussle for "Zune Social".
With the launch of Ping, Apple in a way has also thrown in a challenge for Windows Phone 7. Ping has been made available to both computers as well as other hand-held devices of Apple.
Ping flaunts three distinctive buttons to start with; "Activity", "My Profile views" & "People". There is also an option where one can pen down comments on the posts. The link to the “People” page gives an impression of a regular text message which also carries the links to the feed. Ping shall be made available to all Apple iPad users in the upcoming month and they shall have to get their device updated with the latest version of I tunes for a hassle free usage.
