FX has renewed "Sons of Anarchy" for two more seasons, with which the popular motorcycle-gang drama ensures a fifth and a sixth season.
The extension comes as part of a new overall deal for the creator of the show, Kurt Sutter. Sutter, as part of the three-year pact with 20th Century Fox TV and FX Productions, will remain in-charge of the show, and will be responsible for developing programs for both cable and networks.
Even though the renewal has extended the drama to six seasons, the show is expected to run a course of at least seven seasons. The very outspoken creator Sutter surged through the ranks of FX as a staff writer for "The Shield."
FX is justified in confidence in "Sons of Anarchy," whose fourth season was its highest-rated season to date, which saw an 18 per cent rise amongst the adult age bracket of 18 to 49-years-old, while the total number of viewers jumped 21 per cent from the third season. The two-part season finale of Season 4, which aired in December 2011, also registered an increase of 22 per cent over the finale of Season 3.
