If rumors are to be believed, Microsoft may have given a makeover to its age-old logo for its upcoming Windows 8 operating system.
Ever since the Windows brand came into existence, the logo has been a multi-colored waving flag which has all but slightly evolved over the years. But according to an image released by Cnbeta, Microsoft has given a makeover to the logo for Windows 8, coming up with a monochromatic and straight cut.
The leaked image has been supported with a photograph of a tablet which bears the logo on its sole button. As a result, the traditional colored flag now looks like a three-dimensional view of a Cornish flag.
The new simple and minimalist logo has been designed in tune with the metro-esque interface on Windows 8 and Windows Phone. If this is indeed the real logo, it will replace the previous wavy four squares company logo that almost became synonymous with the company for all of 22 years.
The Redmond giant will launch its Windows 8 consumer preview beta release during the Mobile World Congress later in February.
