Mobile research outfit Ground Truth has claimed that mobile dating is on the rise these days. Ground Truth said the number of visitors to mobile dating sites has increased a staggering 92% from the first week in June to the last week of last month. The site claimed that it is mainly as users are look for a bit of loving during the summer holiday.
Ground Truth added that the numbers is on the rise throughout the summer months. The number of visitors in the last week of June increased 31% from the first week of June, added ground truth. The number increased 46% by the end of July compared with the first week of that month. The surge in mobile dating is proving very beneficial for mobile-optimized dating site Flirtomatic as it is getting maximum share of romance seekers. Flirtomatic apparently accounts for 65% of mobile dating traffic for the week ending August 8.
Sites like match.com and eHarmony ranked at 7 and 17, respectively, for the same time period. Explaining the summer mobile dating phenomenon, Evan Neufeld, vice president of marketing at Ground Truth said that “the idea of poring over profiles tethered to a home computer is much less appealing when the weather is pleasant and social activities tend to gravitate toward outdoor activities.”
Neufeld added that "it was worth noting that dating sites which were designed around the mobile experience, like Flirtomatic, attracted the most users. According to figures released by the sexy stats, the average visitor to mobile dating sites spends a total of 12 minutes and 44 seconds per week.
