Apple is all set to host its music event today in San Francisco and the Cupertino-based firm has invited media persons to cover the annual event. Rumors are strong that the company might unveil a Verizon iPhone during the event even though that will be rather unconventional step for Apple.
It is expected that Apple might also announce its decision to give iPhone to other carriers like T-Mobile and Sprint. The other announcement which everyone is waiting for is the release of the white iPhone 4.
Traditionally Apple has used the September event to launch new iPod and this time also it is unlikely that Apple will use the event to make announcement related to Verizon iPhone or white iPhone, or may be, you never know. Apple has a habit of pulling out surprises at the last moment so it may happen that the company break away from tradition this year and use today's event to make announcement related to iPhone as well.
It may be recalled that Apple had released the original iPod Nano in early September in 2005 and it introduced the original video iPod four weeks later at a separate event. The delay allowed the Third party accessories to reach the market in time.
But in case of a Verizon iPhone it is a different story altogether. Although it is expected that the iPhone on Verizon will be physically identical to the existing iPhone 4, Apple need not think much about accessories getting to market in time because iPhone 4 cases are already in place and other accessories like earbuds tend to be iPhone 4-compatible by default, which means Apple can release Verizon iPhone together with a new iPod.
White iPhone is expected as Apple has admitted it is working on it and with recent video of the device surfacing on the net, rumors are strong that it might be announced today.
